Training For Safety In Volatile Situations

Between international conflicts on the border, the ongoing threat of terrorism, and the regular threat of kidnapping or carjacking, Kenya is a potentially dangerous environment for security officers and the general public alike.

In order to adequately prepare employees for the unique requirements of the political and social climate, XFOR provides Hostile Environment Awareness Training, or HEAT, as standard.

We pride ourselves on teaching the skills required to assess threats and respond accordingly, as opposed to an instructive approach. This ensures that every officer or engineer operating on behalf of XFOR is ready to react to situations as they unfold with security and safety in mind.

The XFOR HEAT course covers:

  • Planning and Personal Security: including best practices for equipment and preparation and advice on route planning.
  • Cultural Knowledge: including a full briefing of the current social and political climate in Kenya.
  • Observation and Threat Assessment: including introductions to common explosive devices and other signs of terrorism or hostility.
  • Reacting To Hostility: including survival training for kidnapping or carjacking.

    • The risk level in fluctuates dramatically and can vary from day to day, but we routinely retrain or rebrief all XFOR employees on the evolving threat level and new alerts.
